Year 8 Mass
We thank Fr Philip Dyer-Perry for coming to St Paul’s to help us celebrate the Year 8 retreat Mass recently. This was a really special occasion following the Year 8 retreats which took place earlier this term. All the pupils came together in collective worship to celebrate the retreat theme, ‘I have called you by Name.’ (Isaiah 43:7) The Mass was led by the pupils themselves with readings, prayers, reflections and songs, all beautifully delivered by those who volunteered to serve in the Mass. The children designed a banner with the theme title of the retreat, which was brought up as an offering at the start of the ceremony. We also included some examples of the mission statements that the pupils came up during their time on retreat; a lovely reminder of some of the ways the children will take their learnings from the day into the year ahead. Father Philip gave a warm and engaging homily which helped tie together the retreat theme that our pupils have enjoyed exploring together over the last few weeks. The Mass was a truly special coming together of our school community and a wonderful way to conclude what has been a thoroughly enjoyable retreat season for Year 8.
