The Globe Players

The Globe Players visited St Paul’s recently and put on wonderful performances for some of our Key Stage 3 and 4 students. This included a comical ‘Introduction to Shakespeare’ show for Year 7 followed by the tragic play ‘Romeo and Juliet’ for Year 9. As well as being thoroughly entertained by the often hilarious performances, the students found the discussions about Shakespeare’s language and key themes incredibly useful for their study of the plays in English. Both performances were extremely successful in enabling the students to appreciate the texts in performance and gain a great insight into what an experience it would have been for an Elizabethan audience to witness Shakespeare’s great plays come to life on the stage.
