St Paul's Catholic College Providing Education For The Diocese Of Westminster
Exercise and Wellbeing
In this current lockdown, we feel it is really important for students to keep themselves physically active and to look after their wellbeing. Exercise is a great way of switching off from the stresses of the day and allowing our minds to rest from the demands of classroom activities. Where possible, we encourage everyone to get outside for their daily exercise and make the most of the fresh air whilst also making use of the links below to exercise from home.
To help students stay active, exercise videos will be published on the school website every fortnight for students to complete and challenge themselves starting this week (w/b 19th January). The videos support and guide the students throughout and require no extra equipment to be able to complete them. Resources will next be updated the week beginning 1st February.
All that students need is their PE kit, water bottle and a bit of space.
Years 7 & 8
For Years 7 and 8, we are looking to work on all of the major muscle groups whilst incorporating aerobic exercise too so that students feel challenged whilst comfortable.
For Year 9, we are looking to increase the challenge by incorporating body weight exercises to work our muscles. Year 9 students can also investigate different methods of training that can be completed to improve their fitness.
NOTE: These are difficult workouts and will challenge your fitness. If you are struggling to complete them, use the modifications suggested. Remember it's all about personal challenge.
Students are welcome to email evidence of themselves completing the workouts, if they wish, to their PE teacher – this could be a photo, short video or just a written summary of what they have been doing to keep fit each week.
