St Paul's Catholic College Providing Education For The Diocese Of Westminster
Awarding of Exam Grades Summer 2020
As you know, the Government announced that all UK schools, colleges and higher education providers are indefinitely closed from Friday the 20th of March and that all exams (GCSEs, BTECs, A levels) will no longer be held in May and June.
Ofqual has today announced the procedures that schools are to follow in allowing the examination boards to calculate the students' examination grades for summer 2020.
Schools and colleges are being asked to send the exam boards two pieces of information for each of the students’ subjects:
the grade they believe the students was most likely to get if teaching, learning and exams had happened as planned.
within each subject, the order of students at our school by performance, for each grade.
Full details of Ofqual’s guidance for teachers, students, parents and careers, for the award of summer grades 2020, can be found via the link below:
Ofqual has informed schools that we are not required to set any additional work, homework or mock exams for students to complete in arriving at the teachers' forecast grades.
From Monday 20th April we will be setting Year 11 transition work to help prepare students for the next phase of their education.
I know just how stressful and anxiety-provoking this situation is for our Year 11 and Year 13 students. Please be assured that our staff will do all they can to work with exam boards to ensure our young people achieve the grades they deserve, and that I will write further once more detailed official guidance has been published.
