St Paul's Catholic College Providing Education For The Diocese Of Westminster
Year 12 Careers Day
On 15th June, Year 12 took part in a Careers Day hosted and organised by Miss Hamaton, Mr Jones and Head of Year, Miss Williams. It was a very interesting day and extremely beneficial. The hall was packed with a variety of businesses and universities, all there with leaflets and novelty pens at the ready to give out to everyone who came to speak to them.
In the morning, half of the year group went into the hall to have a 20-25 minute conversation with company and university representatives. The other half of the year met with a Careers Adviser from ‘Innervate’ where students got a chance to understand what employers look for in a CV.
After this, they went on to an eye-opening and informative talk about the truths of apprenticeships, where it was highlighted that these are just as beneficial as university degrees, and offer a wide range of skills and programs which are either self or government funded. In the afternoon there was a workshop delivered by Pauline Brown on motivational speech and director skills on how to be a confident person in the work place.
Overall it was a great day, giving students more of an insight as to the options available to them after Sixth Form.
