St Paul's marks Remembrance
The students and staff of St Paul’s wanted to mark Remembrance in a special way this year. Inspired by the wonderful display created at the Tower of London a couple of years ago, Mr T Collett, Head of Design and Technology, gave his students a special DT project of creating poppies for placing in the gardens of the school as a mark of respect for those who had fallen in WW1 and subsequent conflicts fighting for a better world. As well as the students, the staff also had an opportunity to create their own poppy for the project. The poppies were made with aluminium stalks, laser cut acrylic leaves, hand cut acrylic petals and a 3D printed button. Students and staff could laser cut onto the leaf the name of someone close to them who they would like to remember. Once they were completed, the students placed their poppies in the gardens of St Paul’s, where the local Remembrance Parade started this year. The display contains around 500 poppies in total and is quite a sight to see.
